Unable to accept his death, some of his classmates decided to continue acting as if he was still alive talking with his desk, pretending to go home with him, etc. This behavior caught on, and at graduation, the principal even arranged to have Misaki's seat included in the ceremony. After graduation, when the class photo was taken, they found that Misaki was included, with a pale face but smiling like everyone else.
Over time, the oral history of became garbled, and people could no longer remember how he died or even whether he was a boy or a girl. At the beginning of the school year following Misaki's death, the class found they had an extra student and were one desk short. At first, they thought it was just an error and ignored it. Unbeknownst to them, however, this was a sign that the Calamity of class had begun, and six students and ten of the students' family members died over the course of the school year.
It wasn't until later that they discovered that one of 's students was a dead person all along, living out the school year as a normal, living person until the year's end. The 'Dead One' also referred to as the "Extra" is a former student or faculty member who died while being part of class , but then in a later year is somehow resurrected and becomes part of class once again.
Despite being dead, the Extra looks and acts like a normal, living person. There is no known form of physical examination or line of questioning which can distinguish the Extra from the living. This memory alteration phenomenon also affects written and other physical records, retroactively erasing all evidence of the Extra's death. Because of the unnatural presence of this dead person walking amongst the living, at least one student from class or one of their family members or the teacher of the class dies each month.
At the end of the school year, the Extra simply disappears, the Calamity's effects on the class' memories and physical records are reversed, and the survivors forget that the Extra was ever part of the class. The Calamity has run its course, thus marking an end to the deaths, until the next year.
The reversal must not be entirely complete, since Chibiki has been able to record the Extra's name most years, after the fact. By all accounts, the calamity continued to take its toll on class unabated every year since the original incident.
Exceptionally, however, in , the calamity ended prematurely in August, with only seven recorded deaths that year. But it's also kind of a stretch. Also, in episode 8 the extra has a talk with the man at the beach sorry for my lack of names and he says that he could have sworn he saw her recently, followed by him saying he only attended funerals recently, and the extra had died only a few years before recent.
I think a hidden hint is the continuous reference to the dead being cold. And you can see when Reiko is asleep on the couch kouichi looks at the AC and turns it up because it was freezing in the room. Sign up to join this community. What hints were shown during the series to who was the extra person in the classroom?
Ask Question. Asked 6 years, 9 months ago. Active 3 months ago. Viewed 25k times. In Another , the extra person was the assistant teacher, Reiko Mikami, who is Kouichi's aunt. I think some hints were dropped during the series that pointed to that person, like Kouichi's grandpa complaining about going to too many funerals, and the protagonist's confusion afterwards and the phone call from Kouichi's father, when he mentions that he was back in town 1.
Were there other hints to who the extra was? Improve this question. Mindwin Mindwin Without this critical piece of information, it is completely impossible to deduce who the dead person is. Despoilered, but if someone's reading questions about shows they haven't watched, I think it's their own fault if they get spoiled. Add a comment. Active Oldest Votes. Hint 1 It's revealed afterwards that the extra desk that Countermeasures tried to account for and prevented in the classroom at the beginning was actually in the Teacher's Lounge, and previous incidents seemed to imply the Extra was always a student attending the class, so no one thought to check there.
Along with the first hint, we see her connection with class Thats rly weird i just binge watched the series so i was only a day away from the most recent comment. Hey there everyone, it's like I'm the last one until now. August of here, this chain will continue until one comment goes missing and we have a miniature calamity lol. That depends on what you mean. Misaki Yomiyama, the boy in Class in '72 was sort of the causality of the curse.
Mei Misaki, the girl in the same class as Kouichi, is not the extra person in the class. I'm probably way to late though, and you probably know this by now. Better late than never. Do you know your hidden name meaning? Click here to find your hidden name meaning. And the previous batches who did not realize who the dead person was I really wonder what happens to the next years of class 3. Also, the extra in the previous years is forgotten after graduation, I guess.
I mean I think nobody can even recall there was another student. Hi does everyone know what is the cause of death ko Reiko koichi's aunt before she was brought to life again? I have a question that's been bugging up my mind after watching Another and reading analysis everywhere, my question is what if the students in Class 3 weren't able to kill the extra in that year, what will happen to that 'extra' who is supposed to be dead, will it continue living or will die at some point after the students in Class 3 graduated?
How did they know that there's an extra student in their class? They know it with the number of desk in the classroom at the beginning of the year.
Then anyone who is extra will be ignored too. Why chibiki didn't forget about mami asakura? Chibiki isn't part of the class. More or like just an spectator of the game something like that. Why Kouichi's Grandparents lived with Him and Reiko completly normally, and didn't noticed that Reiko should be dead? Because they for sure knew about her death, in one scene Grandpa says: Poor Reiko, so he still remember about her death, but live with her in one house at the same time.
Its because they were part of the family and most of their memories were altered. Can anyone explain me extra student theory??? Everything is fine, when one day they figure out that there is not enough desks. Their memories are changed, so they don't know who is add person, firstly probably don't know that there is add person, just mistqke in counting. But when the one person's name is erased and that situation is repeated every year they figured out what is going on.
Next they just know that from previous class's experiences. If the causality has to have died due to the phenomenon, how was Reiko the causality? She died when she was older she said it was 15 years since being in the class, but she died only a year and a half ago.
I think that reiko was his real mother. He has forgotten about it, to make him believe that reiko is not dead. There was two interesting clues: When Kouichi was talking with his father, firstly he said sth like how is it come back to that town after 1,5 years, implying that he was living there before. Also, Akazava's memory about meeting with Kouichi1,5 years ago imply that.
So, I think that he was living in this town until his mother died, 1,5 years before following happens. Wow thats an interesting way of thinking and it meets all the condition like why koichi called reiko goodbye mother. Thanks it was my wuestion too. Actually the reiko who died at the end wasn't reiko it was ritsuko..
Wait how is Reiko is his real mother? There's no way. Go and read the manga you'll see why I'm saying this. First Reiko and Ritsuko are 11 years apart.
Does that makes sense to have a baby at that age lol. Well they can leave if they want to but that is alive or not is another question. They can leave but most of the times they don't leave alive, and if they do leave then they were just lucky.
Theres one question i wanna know so How the hell reiko is the casualty she died 1 and half year ago that means she was not connected to the class 3 because she graduated 15 years ago!!! Near the end of the 12th episode, Mr. Chibiki says that there were seven deaths two years ago, and we can see Reiko's name next to "Homeroom:" so I'm guessing she was either the head or assistant teacher.
Here after watching the anime. Wierdest shit after Bunny Girl Senpai! Loved the anime. I still think its all related to miskai mei i still think she is he sus. And all the eps name are related to doll making thats kinda creepy. So if the original class would have dealt the fact that he died then there wouldn't have been a phenomenon cuz they wouldn't have invited this dead dude back to the class?
So basically the dead guy cursed the class of reincarnation of dead people, so shouldn't they get an exorcism? So he literally trapped and prolly cuz they held on and didn't live with the fact he's gone? And I guess he's sending a clue to let go or be cursed? The ghost dude prolly has a grudge or somethin' cuz but idk thats my thoughts. I wonder what will happen to the next class 3. It's only for them but not for the next ones, isn't it? Weren't her memories supposed to be altered?
Didn't pay attention lol Post a Comment.
