I think a lot of it has to do with international brands, where it gets pronounced one way in the native language and another in English or in the case of Britax, American English.

I'm pretty sure people in my neck of the woods would just laugh if I started saying "Bry-tax". I waited tables for years, and this was always a point of contention; should you pronounce the name how it SHOULD be said and have most people think you're a fool or how it's commonly said but know you're saying it wrong.

I usually went with the common pronunciation, figuring if I ever ran into someone who cared, they'd probably enjoy having a chance to educate me on the subject, whereas the majority of people wouldn't think twice about it. I always pronounce Chicco "chee-ko" even though I know it is pronounced "kee-ko".

I also say Brit-tax even though I know it's wrong. Is Graco pronounced "grack-ko" or "gray-ko"? I do the latter but have heard the former.
